As every year, Himalayan Institute Hospital Trust (HIHT) celebrated nation’s 70th Independence Day with gaiety and patriotic fervor this year too on 15th August. Dr. Vijay Dhasmana, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Swami Rama Himalayan University, hoisted the national flag amongst the cheering presence of the students, staff and employees as the students sang the national anthem melodiously.
Congratulating everyone on the joyous occasion, Dr. Dhasmana commended the efforts undertaken by UVA (Uplifting Villages Around Us) initiated by undergraduate medical students for community welfare activities. He applauded the activities of plantation, solar electric fencing, sanitation and non-formal education provided by Team UVA at the Kol village. He urged the engineering and management college students to join Team UVA and strengthen it further for community activities.
Sharing the Institute’s growth for the year gone by, Dr. Dhasmana informed the gathering about progress achieved by the Himalayan Hospital in terms of new OTs, additional ICU beds and a new hospital building providing 150 beds. The campus would have a new Activity Center housing a gymnasium, super store, facilities for the students, residents and employees and a Sports Complex very soon. Speaking about the educational programs, he informed that the university shall start M.Ch. in 2017, introduce distance education programs by the year 2018 and setting up a new Yoga and Holistic Health department. Recognizing human resource as the optimal asset of any organization, Dr. Dhasmana reiterated on optimum utilization of manpower at every level within the University.
The students, staff and faculty of the University and the children from the Vidya School and the campus presented the cultural program featuring patriotic songs, dances and skits. The celebrations concluded with distribution of sweets to everyone present on the occasion.
