HIHT announced installation of radiotherapy facilities
Linear accelerators which will be available soon for treatment
of cancer patients.

Upcoming Cancer Research
Institute at HIHT University organized a three-day conference
ISO CME 2008 under the auspices of Indian Society of Oncology
from 14th-16th Nov 2008. Scientific sessions were programmed
to give an overview of problem of cancer in general and principles
of its management. More than 200 delegates attended the CME.
Faculty & staff at HIHT University were encouraged to participate
in CME to enable them to update & choose an area to make
contribution towards cancer care in the upcoming cancer research
institute.

The Chief Guest
Dr.H.S.Shukla, President of World Federation of Surgical Oncology
Societies, from BHU Varanasi shared about burden of global cancer
and rising trend of cancer incidence in India. Dr.Bharat Aggarwal
a renowned scientist from MD Anderson shared about role of diet
& cancer. Sri Vijay Dhasmana Vice Chancellor of HIHT University
highlighted the role of self discipline for health and wellness,
including control of cancer.
Dr. Sunil Saini , Organising Secretary of CME and his team at
CRI-HIHT have been conducting monthly workshops as a part of
the NCCP since November 2007. This CME was a part of the same
program for the month of November 2008. About 100 doctors and
40 nurses from the state health services have been trained through
these programs in the past year. These workshops and other CME
will continue to develop a model cancer control program in state
of Uttarakhand.
