The Himalayan Institute
of Medical Sciences was founded by a great yogi, scientist, philosopher,
philanthropist, researcher, writer and above all a visionary par excellence
- H.H. Swami Ram. The beautiful, lush green and sprawling campus is
situated on the foothills of the magnificent Himalayas on Dehradun-Rishikesh
highway that is about 24 kms from Dehradun and about 18 kms from Rishikesh.
Besides medical & nursing education, the Institute offers various
Para-medical courses (Fig.1) through its sister-branch, Himalayan Institute
of Paramedical Sciences (HIPS). The ultimate goal of various courses
is to bring about a unique pattern of "Teaching-learning Methodology"
and professional practice by incorporating spiritual wisdom vis-à-vis
modern medical technology as one of the pillars to attain a cut above
the international standard of medical education. During the course,
the trainees are taught not only the science but also the art of medicine
by a galaxy of distinguished and committed teachers: HIPS is affiliated
to HNB, Garhwal University, Srinagar, Uttaranchal.
