School Health

The school health program is carried out in the various governmental and private schools. A medical team from HIHT visits these schools and conducts regular checkups to help in early diagnosis and treatment of diseases. This is followed with a health education component using a child to child approach. This is covered through modules incorporating various:
   * Personal and oral hygiene
   * Environmental and food sanitation
   * Nutrition including balanced diet and diseases caused by vitamin deficiency
   * Vaccine preventable diseases and immunizationYoga lessons are also provided to enhance vitality and increase awareness of self. A health committee at school level consisting of a teacher, a parent, two students of the school and a community leader ensures the health of the children.
